Cultural Competency Considerations: Social workers serve people whose lives expose them to chronically stressful conditions including poverty, adverse social determinants of health, discrimination, and social injustices. Attachment dynamics play out in multiple ways across these domains. Understanding these dynamics can improve a social worker’s ability to effectively intervene with clients who come from dissimilar backgrounds.
