Testimony on HB 6885: AAC Medicaid Reimbursement Levels for Providers

The National Association of Social Workers, CT Chapter representing over 2600 members supports HB 6885.

Reimbursement rates for providers under Medicaid is a decisive factor as to whether a provider will accept Medicaid recipients. When Medicaid rates were last increased there was in increase in providers accepting Medicaid. Maintaining rates at adequate levels is crucial to continuing to have a sufficient pool of providers.

The State of CT has initiated a new program, to attract increased enrollment in MSW programs and nursing schools. The  CT Health Horizons  program will utilize $35 million to expand opportunities for students, with an emphasis on equity, to attain their MSW or nursing degree. NASW/CT applauds the Lamont administration for starting program. We also have communicated with the Governor that the need of the social work workforce goes beyond training for new graduates.
