I began my social work career working for Easter Seals with disabled children and adults as a member of a multiple-disciplinary team consisting of a special education teacher, a physical therapist, a occupational therapist, a speech and Language pathologist, a neurologist, and a psychiatrist. I then worked at Boys (and Girls) Village in Milford as a Clinical supervisor including the supervision of clinical and medical personnel and all aspects of therapy provided; accountability that all required service plans, reports, and communication with collaborative agencies and families are completed in a timely fashion; work with quality assurance personnel to make administrative changes as needed; organize the operating budget; and coordinate inter-program services as needed. At that time, I also worked part-time in the evenings at a family counseling center Staff Clinician responsible for individual and group therapy for adults and children, diagnosis and treatment, consulting with staff Psychiatrist, coordination of services with managed care companies. During that time, I wrote articles and conducted interviews for Fairfield Women’s magazine on clinical issues. I had a column called “Psych Yourself”. I then moved on as a School Social Worker in a city middle school for a diverse population of 1000+ students. Individual and Group counseling, special education support services and evaluations, crisis management, special workshops and programs, communication and collaboration with parents, community agencies, health and mental health facilities, Juvenile Justice, and the Department of Children and Families. School Social Worker Field Supervisor for MSW students with several universities since 2004. I am currently retired, but work as an adjunct professor teaching social work courses as they become available in various schools of social work.
